An Italian herb blend is one of my go-to seasoning blends in the kitchen. It can be used to flavor so many foods, from veggies to meat to pasta.
Even better than its versatility, is the fact that it doesn’t take long to mix up. Plus, you can make as much or little as you wish.
I like to mix up a large batch of this Italian herb blend recipe so I know I’ll never be without it.
Ingredients
As you may have guessed, an Italian Herb blend is a mix of various dried herbs.
Basil: adds a bit of sweetness to the mixture
Oregano: a bold and earthy herb that is just a little bitter
Rosemary: a woodsy aromatic herb with hints that could include evergreen, citrus, lavender, or sage
Thyme: the very earth but sweet taste of thyme makes it one of my favorite herbs
Marjoram: a citrusy and sweet herb

How to Italian Herb Blend at home
- Measure out all the herbs into a medium-sized bowl
- Use a spoon to give the mixture a good stir to combine well.
How to store Italian Herbs
Once you have the herbs well mixed, store them in an air-tight container. I highly recommend a Mason jar or an old spice jar. As with all spices and dried herbs, it is best to store them away from heat and light. I suggest a cabinet or pantry that is close to the stove but not directly above it.
Recipes using Italian Herb Blend
These herbs are ideal to use in a balsamic vinaigrette. It tastes really great added to tomato soup and my roasted cauliflower with tomatoes recipe.
It makes a flavorful topping for sourdough focaccia, along with plenty of sea salt!

FAQ’s for Italian Herb Blend
An Italian Herb blend and an Italian seasoning blend are not the same. They both contain the same dried herbs but the Italian seasoning blend will also have garlic powder and chili flakes.
There are many foods that Italian herbs will pair well with. Sprinkle it on pasta or as a topping for focaccia. Use it to flavor meatballs, chicken, pork, or beef roasts. It also compliments a variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, broccoli, and green beans.

- 2 tbsp dried oregano
